Katana and Derek’s 1-hour elopement at Sure Thing Too Chapel was proof that you don’t need a long wedding day to have an experience that feels completely personal. Their romantic goth style, intimate guest list, and short-and-sweet timeline made this such a fun day to photograph. As a Las Vegas elopement photographer and videographer duo, we love when couples bring their own style into their wedding day, and these two absolutely did! 

A Romantic Goth First Look in Las Vegas

We started their one-hour session with a first look across the street from Sure Thing Too, using the classic motel signs as our backdrop. It was the perfect place to bring in some of their personal style before heading into the chapel.

Katana and Derek both have backgrounds in the burlesque world, so their style naturally leans vintage, dramatic, and a little goth. Katana’s look especially brought together that 1950s influence with her romantic goth aesthetic, while Derek matched her perfectly. They looked incredible together!  And the first look gave them a few quiet minutes together before the ceremony without taking up a huge chunk of their timeline.

An Intimate Sure Thing Too Ceremony

Their ceremony was incredibly intimate, with just Derek’s parents and Katana’s two friends there to celebrate with them. It was short and sweet, but there was so much emotion packed into those few minutes. Derek was completely locked in on Katana throughout the ceremony. The joy, the tears, and the way he looked at her made it very obvious how much this moment meant to him.

After they said their vows and officially became newlyweds, we took a few quick family and friend photos before moving on to the rest of their session.

Making the Most of a 1-Hour Elopement at Sure Thing Too Chapel

With the remaining time, we focused on photos inside the chapel. This is where Katana absolutely ATE! She was a natural in front of the camera, and Derek fit right in beside her. They moved so easily together, which meant we could get a lot of variety without spending forever posing them.

That’s one of the reasons I love the one-hour package at Sure Thing Too. If you keep your guest list small and your plans simple, an hour can give you enough time for a first look, ceremony, family photos, and plenty of couple portraits.

And, of course, they had to include the classic car! Sure Thing Too’s vintage car is one of my favorite add-ons for couples who want a little more variety in their gallery. It adds another layer to the photos and fits their vintage-inspired aesthetic perfectly.
